Did you guess where our Belle bag is?
It has landed itself in Barcelona; the birthplace of two of Spain's most famous female writers,
Carmen Laforet and Ana María Matute! There is no shortage of culture in this city as some
of the biggest artists in the world can claim Barcelona as their home. From the gorgeous residences
to the monuments crafted by Gaudi, up to the Miro museum and back down to La Sagrada Familia. And
from this stunning culture comes a city full of energy and vivacity, living life at all hours of
the day and night, while bringing the sea to its dining tables. Overall, a wonderful place for a
literary vacation.
Thumbnails, left to right:
1. "The architect Gaudi's influence can be seen all over the city, having defined modernism as we know
it today."
2. "La Boqueria market in the center of Barcelona off of its famous street, La Rambla, houses all
types of vendors selling fruits, vegetables, fish, confectioneries and spices for creating a
traditional Catalan paella. It's hard not to stop in front of such seductively colorful candy
shops."
3. "The sacred jewel of Barcelona and Gaudi's magnus opus is La Sagrada Familia, not scheduled to
be completed until 2028 despite having started construction in 1882."
