Our Belletrista Bag is On the Move!

Did you guess where our Belle bag is and what the connection to women writers is?

Courtesy of Andy Barnes, this photograph of our bag was taken in Cornwall. He says, "An inn on the windswept and desolate Bodmin Moor in southwest England may seem like an odd place for our literary bookbag to begin its travels. However, the bag was preceded in 1930 by a cold and frightened Daphne Du Maurier, who found her way here after becoming lost whilst out riding. The locals kept her entertained with stories of the murderous pirates and smugglers that used to frequent the inn. Du Maurier turned this experience into one of her most celebrated novels, naming it Jamaica Inn after her place of sanctuary. I encountered suitably wild and windy weather on my visit to the Jamaica Inn, but I am pleased to report that I, like Du Maurier almost 80 years before, eventually found refuge at the bar."
